Our Members - The Rocky Pups
Our members range from the recreational pet owners to the advanced handlers, and their dogs range from beginners to master athletes.
They don't pay to enter a trial, they don't ask to compete, and they don't care about placements or getting ribbons. They only care about the time they spend with us, pleasing their owner, and having fun. These are our furry friends and companions...
Apollo (Kristy & Aric)
Apollo is a Xoloitzcuintli (commonly called Mexican Hairless). He has tremendous speed on the agility course, but is still working on focusing on following his handler Kristy on course. His favorite obstacles are the tunnel, which increases his speed, and the A-frame, which gives him a great view of everything going on. He is a sensitive soul who loves cuddling and sun tanning in his downtime.
Baylee is a 10 year old Bouvier who loves Rally Obediance and has just started in agility. But, don't let her age fool you as Baylee's already getting titles! See... you can teach an old dogs new tricks!
CH HuntersHeart RedDevil Fantome FDJ CGN AN SGDC SDS-SP TOG AN SI SC, also known as Boo, is a Brittany Spaniel bred/owned by Dr. Carla Simon in Calgary. In addition to running agility, Boo is competing at the Masters level in UKC nosework. He loves pointing birds and retrieving (especially in water). He retired from the show ring as Canada's #4 show Brittany. Boo and BB puppies are expected July 2016.
Cora (Dan, Miranda & Noah)
Cora is a Havanese that’s born for speed. She started agility at an early age, playing in tunnels and on a ‘baby’ teeter. She loves agility and is super-enthusiastic on course when running with Dan and Miranda, and especially when she gets to run with her junior handler Noah. She hasn’t been competing for long, but she’s quickly gathering qualifying runs and titles, and she qualified for Nationals in her first ever AB/NWT Regional event. It’s a crowd pleaser to watch her hair blow and her pony-tail fly as she speeds through the obstacles.
Cry Baby - aka CB (Chris)
CB is a Pomeranian and is almost 6 years old. He loves agility and going on long walks near the Bow River in Edworthy Park. In 2016 he qualified for nationals in agility (6 inch veterans category), scoring 403 points in the Alberta-NWT regionals! If all goes well, CB will be in the Master’s level for all events by the end of the year!
Jaxx is a Miniature Schnauzer that loves running agility with his handler Kristy. They have been to the Agility Association of Canada Alberta/NWT Regionals five times and the AAC Canadian Nationals 2 times. They see many more Provincial and National competitions in their future! Jaxx is a steady little guy; he is not the fastest but is very consistent. He has a great time both at practice and on course during competition as long as Kristy is out there with him. They make a great team together!
This little Cocker Spaniel is new to agility but you'd never know it by the way he flies through the air - go Keir go!
Keltie is a 2 ½ year old Border Collie. Keltie just loves playing agility and is super-fast and fun to run!
Lava (Katerina and Chris)
Lava is a 1 year old red merle tri-border collie. Lava is addicted to agility and absolutely loves running through the tunnel. She also loves playing ball and will play fetch with anyone that looks at her.
Lexi (Tremolo Catch Me If You Can) is a Shetland sheepdog who has a love for the sport like no other. So much that she would rather choose her own course and let Carma run beside her. She reminds us all about what the sport teaches us: the importance of consistency, patience, but most importantly, to love the time we get to spend with our dogs, and not worry about the placements. Just have fun.
Lexi (Katerina and Chris)
Lexi was rescued in 2009 and we think she is around 8 years old. She is a mix of border collie, lab and shepherd. Lexi loves to jump up on everything and has a knack for balancing on anything. In 2014 Lexi was able to show off her talent on The Late Night Show with David Letterman where she climbed a ladder.
Lizzy (Katerina and Chris)
Lizzy is a 10 year old Standard Poodle. Lizzy is always wagging her tail and is happy doing anything, but her favorite things to do are to get pet, eat and sleep.
Lola is now 11 years old and in “semi-retirement”. Some days she’s fast….other days she takes her time. Her only aversion is the teeter – so jumpers, steeplechase, and gamble have become her classes of choice.
Maggie is a Yorkie-Poo who loves agility, swimming, and going for walks at the off-leash parks. Don’t let her size fool you – she thinks she is a “big dog”. She is back to running agility after suffering a spinal stroke at age 5, in 2015 which left her partially paralyzed on her right side. We're all glad to see this little wonder back in action.
Pablo (Dan & Miranda)
Pablo is a Havanese who is known for his high-flying jumps. He started agility young, but didn’t start competing with his handlers, Dan and Miranda, until the age of 4. Pablo’s getting older and likes to take his time and enjoy all of his runs, but he still loves the sport and always runs with a smile.
Samson is a two and half year old mixed breed. He's got the good looks of a golden retriever, the energy of a border collie and the left front leg of iron-man. He sports some heavy duty metals plates and screws after breaking his leg as a puppy while "racing" the cats down the stairs. These days his racing is limited to the agility course, and though he's new to agility, he's already proving to be a natural. He loves to jump, and often practices at home by jumping over the entire couch.
Carolle and her aussiedoodle (All Cdn) dog "Sharlie" are earning qualifying scores in their first year of trialling. Watch them tear up the course!
Skye, the very cavalier, Cavalier King Charles, loves agility. Currently she is working on becoming more focused in the ring!
Tessa is a 9 ½ year old Shih Tzu Poodle who is my first agility dog. I have learned a lot about the game from her. She is slow and steady but likes to play when she can.
Toby (Tollwest Sugar Daddy) is a 2 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. He is new to agility, but is learning to love the game quickly. His exuberance for life is something special; whatever is thrown at him, whether it is agility, nose work or more recently chase ability, he is willing to do with a hop, skip and a jump, or most times, at full speed.
CH Huntersheart Prairiestorm Vite FDJ MSCDC AGDC ADC AGNJV HPN NAC, also known as Vite, is a Brittany Spaniel bred/owned by Dr. Carla Simon in Calgary. Vite is Canada's #1 Agility Brittany and her daughter, Luna, is Canada's #2 Agility Brittany (CKC, 2015). Vite's sire, National Specialty Winner BISS Can/Mex/Int'l CH ATCHC Huntersheart Big Chief CDX RE CGC VMSCDC TNE OCC OJC TGN O-NAC GSN RSN AGI AGNJ, was Canada's #1 Agility Brittany from 2005-2008 and won gold at AAC Regional Championships at 12 years of age. When Vite's not running agility, she loves hunting birds.
Willa is a 2 1/2 yr old Shepherd mix who has just recently begun trialing and seems to thrive on the challenges of the agility ring. Her favorite past time is chasing balls, teasing her yorkie sister and spending time on the trails with her mom and dad and their respective horses.
Zoey is a 5 year old Shih Tzu Poodle. Zoey is having a sabbatical from agility at the moment but hope to run her again soon!
